Where you can read my words and dreams and million screams. I make my life sound, like, normal.
Wednesday, September 21, 2005

So this morning I got up and got in my car and drove to school, the stupid half-hour drive down Six Forks - that's how I get to school, by the way; I hop onto Six Forks and drive south for half an hour, and then I'm at school. So I drove for half an hour down to school, pulled into the parking lot (after waiting for about ten minutes in that goddamn carpool line that we have to wait in to get into the lot), parked my car, whose bumper is half fallen off from idiot me running into a car in that same carpool line, dragged my stuff out of the trunk like I do every day, trudged up the steps into school, woke up, and did it all over again.

In short, nothing is happening. And I'm not even lying this time. All that's happening is school: I've just described the same morning commute that I go through every freaking morning. I do it so often and in such the same way every day that I'm starting to dream about it.

There are tests, scholarship applications (which is new, I guess, and they suck), classes, and homework. I play World of Warcraft, write my story (which is angsty and melodramatic, the exact opposite of what I set out to do), draft papers, and turn work in late. I went to fencing today, for the first time in about four months. Wes didn't have much to say to me except for, "How you doin," "fine," "that's good, don't forget to relax your shoulders, and turn your foot this way when you advance," which is just fine by me.

I did have a scholarship interview for the Morehead Scholarship, by a committee of (all female) teachers at Raleigh Charter. It was pretty awkward, and the high point was when they asked me to tell about the greatest challenge I've faced, and how I overcame it. I thought for a moment, trying to get around answering, but in the end just went ahead and pulled the gay card.

Oh well. I am very embarrassed, partly because I probably played it wrong. And told Mrs. Newmark that I'm gay. That was weird.

In any case, there's my life in the past twenty days. A whole lot of nothing and routine.

So, I'll see you all pretty soon. Stay tuned for next month's update, kids!
