Wednesday and Thursday were very good days, in interesting ways. The workshop for my story went half-well, in the sense that only half the class read and made comments on my story, and of those only a minority understood that it was a story in full. However, those two people seemed to understand it very well indeed and gave me many extremely valuable comments. Ms. Chalifoux seemed to think it was a very moving and subtle piece, assuming of course that I put more work into it. Also on Wednesday, a college interview for George Washington was sprung on me. My college counselor, Mr. Hairston, had mentioned that I should sign up for it earlier, but I didn't until I talked to him that morning. The interview went very well, I think. The man who talked to me was a very neat old man, who sort of leaned back and squinted at a point thirty degrees off your face as he talked to you. We talked about my writing, and our religious denominations - he was Unitarian, and I was wearing my church's shirt which he took notice of - and overall, I am happy with the way it went. My good feelings lasted through Thursday. That was very nice. Last night, Bethany, Walt, and I watched "The Lion in Winter" at his house. Bethany chose the movie herself, apparently a little misled about what exactly it was about, but that was just fine. I at least thought it was absolutely brilliant. Go see it. Hannibal Lector makes a very fine Richard the Lionheart. Now, however, I'm in a bit of a foul mood for one reason or another. We all now how moods rise and fall despite all intentions. I even went to the symphony tonight; it was very nice, but regardless I found myself bored out of my mind. But what would I do if I stayed home? Procrastinate on that essay due Monday? Not practice trombone for the third week in a row? Dither around on the internet? Work more on my college applications? I don't see much use for it all right now. Oh well. I have my non-yearbook senior pictures scheduled bright and early tomorrow morning on the Neuse River, so I should catch some sleep.
